Lares and Inca Trail Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Hot Springs and Waterfalls

Start your day early at 5 AM with a pickup from your place in Cusco or nearby. After a scenic three-hour drive through the Sacred Valley, you’ll reach the Lares Hot Springs. Enjoy a tasty breakfast with the stunning Andes Mountains as your backdrop before soaking in the healing volcanic waters. Afterward, head to the trailhead at Punta Carretera, meet your horsemen, and begin the gradual hike to Kiswarani village, known for its potato farming. Learn about local plants and enjoy a ceremony with sacred llamas. Camp under the stars near the waterfall for the night.

Day 2: Climbing Condor Pass

Wake up to beautiful views of the colorful lake and valley. After a big breakfast, get ready for a tough three to four-hour climb to Pachacute, or Condor Pass. Zigzag your way up to the top for amazing panoramic views. Head down to El Mirador for lunch, then continue to Cancha Cancha village, which is free from modern technology. Interact with the local Quechuan community, visit their homes, and see traditional weaving techniques. Enjoy a calm night under the stars.

Day 3: From Maras to the Sacred Valley

After breakfast and a visit to a local school, start your descent to warmer weather. Pass by farms using traditional Incan methods before reaching Huaran village. Say goodbye to your support team and take a van to explore the Maras Salt Mines, where saltwater springs fill over 3,000 evaporation chambers. Check out this age-old method before heading to Ollantaytambo to get ready for the next day’s trek on the Inca Trail.
