Itinerary
Choquequirao 3 Days Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco to Capuliyoc, then to Chiquisca
We kick off our adventure by leaving Cusco at 6 a.m., heading to Capuliyoc. The fun starts here as we hike down to Chiquisca. The walk through the Apurímac Canyon is a beautiful start to the trek and sets the tone for the days to come. The Choquequirao trail can be rocky, so having hiking poles and supportive shoes is important. You’ll go up and down the Apurímac Canyon twice, testing your stamina while being rewarded with great views.
Day 2: Chiquisca to Choquequirao
On the second day, we hike hard from Chiquisca to Marampata, where we’ll spend the night. This part of the trek offers amazing views of the area and brings us closer to the Choquequirao ruins. In Marampata, the cool air from the nearby mountains means you’ll need a light sweater and a warm hiking jacket. Keeping your backpack light will make the trek more enjoyable as you enjoy the starry sky at night.
Day 3: Marampata to Capuliyoc and Back to Cusco
On the last day, we hike from Marampata back to Capuliyoc and then return to Cusco. It’s a chance to think about the trip and enjoy the memories we made. Choquequirao is one of Peru’s lesser-known sites, full of amazing archaeological wonders. Over these three days, you’ll walk through rugged paths and discover ancient ruins while taking in breathtaking mountain views.
